Call for Volunteers: NEW Integration Specification Project Group
Dear Members,
Following the integration of FDT technology into the FieldComm Group last year, the Strategic Integration Committee (SIC) has been evaluating existing working groups and roadmaps to design an optimum charter moving forward. We are pleased to announce the merger of the FDI Specification Project Group (PG) and the FDT Architecture and Specification PG into a single group, now called the Integration Specification Project Group.
This new group will streamline our efforts and enhance our capabilities using the best of these technologies. All members of the predecessor PGs will transition into the new Integration Specification PG. The charter for this group was officially approved on January 29 and is available on the Integration Specification Workspace portal.
Your Support Is Needed!
We are seeking volunteers to participate in the new Integration Specification PG. The primary focus will be on developing the FDI 1.5 specification, which will build on the FDI 1.4 and FDT 3.0 technologies. This new specification will include key features for industrial automation, such as nested communications and support for selected factory automation protocols. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape a single device integration solution and gain early insights into the development of future products.
To participate in this new project group, members must first join FieldComm Group’s online specification development portal, known as Workspace. If this is your first time accessing Workspace, your account will need to be manually approved, which typically occurs within a day. You will receive an email confirmation once your account is approved. Once you are a member of Workspace, please join the Integration Working Group and then the Integration Specification PG. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to us via the support portal

Important Kickoff Meeting Details:
The kickoff meeting for the Integration Specification PG will take place during the Vietnam Working Group meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, during Session 2 (10:30 am - 12:00 noon p.m.) local time.  Additional sessions will be held during the week. Topics and agendas for these sessions will be formed during the kickoff. While in-person participation is encouraged, remote access will also be available. Remote attendees must first register on Workspace under ‘Meetings’ before the meeting.
There is no fee to participate. Once registered, you can find all logistics, dial-in information, and other details about using the Whova meeting application. We look forward to your participation and contributions to this important initiative.
We appreciate your support in this important endeavor!
