HART Doctor - Command 48 Cures Device Issues

Users depend on HART devices for accurate operation and continuous data delivery. When an issue arises, HART devices contain a key feature that helps users remedy the situation. Command 48, also known as Read Additional Device Status, is the simple way for all HART devices to guide users to resolve common issues.

Command 48 includes 200 bits that a product developer can define for the specific device. Each of these bits can display unique text via the FDI Package that describes the issue and what steps a user can take to resolve it and return to normal operations quickly.

When an issue occurs, the bit set in Command 48 triggers a change in Device Status (sent with every HART command) and thus alerts a HART host to read the command 48. Informative messages will guide the user to a successful correction of any ongoing issue.

Do not let your users struggle to determine how to fix issues. Share the unique intelligence of your HART device by creating useful definitions for the Command 48 bits. The information can even be provided in multiple languages.

Fun Fact: Stethoscopes are mostly used to listen to your heartbeat, but that is a vital check. Your heartbeat can help doctors determine irregularities such as arrhythmia or leaky valves. Each sound of the heart has a normal rhythm and frequency that doctors are trained to listen for.
