FieldComm Group provides all updates to the image running on the HART Test System (HTS) appliance. The appliance is a specialized piece of technology and should not be treated like an office personal computer (PC). If an update to the underlying operating system is needed, users who are enrolled in the Product Service Program (PSP) for their HART Test Systems will receive updates directly from FieldComm Group to install on their test appliances.

The HTS is set up to be used by a regular user with no assigned administrative privileges so that no configuration changes can be made to the test appliance to protect the system from automatic updates, etc.

There are a large number of underlying architectural changes to the structure, libraries and major components of Ubuntu 14.04 or above that will render the HART Test System inoperable.

HART Test System users are hereby instructed to NEVER update the Ubuntu Linux on their systems.
